Privacy Policy

Temple of Sovereign Birth is run by Hannah Lawrence in the Far North of New Zealand. This page explains what personal information I collect, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
I am not a midwife, doctor or registered health practitioner. I do not provide clinical care, diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. My work sits alongside the care of your midwife or GP, not in place of it.
What I collect
When you contact me, book a session, join the Temple or sign up to my newsletter, I collect the details you give me — usually your name, email address, phone number and anything you choose to write in a message. If you pay online, the payment is handled by my payment provider; I can see that a payment was made, but I do not see or store your card details.
Anything you share with me in a session is treated as confidential.
This website also collects basic, anonymous information about visits — pages viewed, roughly which country you are in, what device you used — through Google Analytics and the tools built into Wix. This uses cookies and is not linked to your name. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on, if you would rather not be counted.
Why I collect it
To arrange and hold your sessions, take payment, answer your questions, run the Temple circle, send you the newsletter if you asked for it, and understand how people find the website.
I do not sell your information, and I do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Who else can see it
I use a small number of services to run this practice, and your information passes through them — Wix for the website, bookings and member area, Zoom for online sessions, my email and newsletter providers, my payment provider, and Google Analytics. These services store information on servers outside New Zealand, and their own privacy policies apply to what they hold.
Other than that, I share your information only if you ask me to, or if I am required to by law.
How long I keep it
For as long as I need it, and for as long as the law requires me to keep business and tax records. If you would like me to delete something sooner, ask and I will, unless I am legally required to keep it.
Keeping it safe
I take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and to make sure only I can access it. No system is completely secure, and I would rather say that plainly. If there were ever a privacy breach likely to cause serious harm, I am required to tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Your rights
You can ask me what information I hold about you and ask for a copy. You can ask me to correct it if it is wrong, or to delete it. You can withdraw your consent to anything you have agreed to, and you can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
Just email me at hannahlawrence.birth@gmail.com. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason. I will respond within 20 working days.
If you are contacting me from outside New Zealand, you may have additional rights under your own country's privacy laws. Email me and I will do my best to help.

Changes
If I change how I handle information, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
